FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is your turnaround time?
You will get your images within 2 weeks of the shoot date. If your project requires a quicker turnaround, rush processing is available, depending on my current workload.
How are the images delivered?
You will get access to an easy-to-use web gallery that will allow you to download and share your images. Your online gallery will be protected by a password, with downloads protected by an additional PIN code to allow you to share it with anyone without giving them the ability to download the images
Do you travel outside of Atlanta?
Yes! I travel as far as you need me to. I shoot all across the US as well as the rest of the world.
I apply a small travel fee for photoshoots between 40 and 300 miles from my studio in downtown Atlanta, GA. For trips longer than 30 miles, travel, accommodation, and other expenses will be included on a per-diam basis.
Are bright and sunny days the best for taking interior photos?
It depends! Bright and sunny days are beautiful but can also be harsh and contrasty, and it is the cloudy days that often provide the best light for a photoshoot.
Because weather is hard to predict, I always arrive with a strobe light, reflector, or light diffuser to capture the emotions you are looking for.
Do you practice the COVID-19 Safety protocol?
I am fully vaccinated and always adhere to the current masking and social distancing guidelines
How do I book a photoshoot?
Please use the contact form to let me know about your upcoming project or here to schedule a short call with me.
Once I am familiar with your creative vision and needs, I will email you a project proposal to review.
How do I pay?
When you sign the proposal, you will be asked to pay a 50% deposit to book your shoot date, and the final invoice will be sent within a week of the photoshoot with the option to pay online.
Please keep in mind that the balance must be paid in full to receive the final images.
What if I have to reschedule the photoshoot?
I am always happy to reschedule if the weather would determine our outcome. For any cancellations not related to the weather within 48 hours of the scheduled shoot, you will be asked to pay a $150 rescheduling fee.
What if I have to cancel the photoshoot?
If you have to cancel the entire project, the initial deposit is non-refundable in most cases.
Can I reduce my expenses by sharing the photography costs with an architect, builder, contractor, or designer?
Yes! It is encouraged that you share the costs with more than one party.
For example, interior designers often split the cost of the shoot with the builder, engineers, architects, contractors, and other parties who were involved in the project. Even though the fees will be higher due to increased usage, each party will still save a substantial amount.
Who owns the photographs?
Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, as the photographer, I maintain copyright ownership to the images we take. Each image has copyright information permanently embedded into the file.
Images are licensed to clients for specific use and duration. It allows you to cut costs when an image will only be used a limited number of times.
All of my photography includes a license to share on social media. For additional licensing (i.e., website, coffee table book, or editorial), I will include the licensing fee in your initial estimate and provide a specific license depending on the usage and intended purposes when the final invoice is paid.
Is retouching included in your rate?
I strive to capture the best image possible when the camera, but photo editing is required to enhance the final image even in the most perfect of lighting situations.
All of my photographs are individually edited and corrected for color, lighting, and distortion to ensure that your property and business are represented with quality.
What do I need to do to prepare for the photoshoot?
The first thing you can do is turn off the lights. Light bulbs cast color, which might be yellowish light or daylight, depending on the light bulb, but they rarely highlight the space in a flattering way
When a designer prefers to see the lights turned on in an image, I start with the lights off and take additional images with the lights on to blend them for the best possible results.
Other things you can do include cleaning and decluttering to prepare an interior space for a shoot. Any need for props, such as live flowers, house plants, interior accessories, etc., will be determined during our initial consultation.
Do you do photoshoots for vacation rentals, Airbnb or VRBO?
Yes! I am an avid traveler and prefer unique vacation rentals with personality rather than a hotel chain wherever I am in the world.
I am currently working on a coffee table book project featuring unique vacation rental properties across the United States. If you think your space is special and should be featured in the book, feel free to contact me at travel@tomasespinoza.com with some information about yourself and your property with a couple of pictures showcasing the place (smartphone pictures are sufficient).
How many photos will you take, and how long will the photoshoot last?
A full-day shoot lasts around 8 hours. You can usually plan on 10 to 15 outstanding images per shoot day. Once I understand your needs, I will further determine the amount of time required to capture your project.
I am meticulous and methodical with my approach to photography, which might require adjusting furniture, lighting, or props. This way, we can ensure that the images will represent the very best in the designs you have worked so hard to create.
Do you like having the client on location?
Do you like having the client on location? I consider photography a collaborative process and always welcome the client to attend the shoot. The results are always better when I have as much information as possible about the property and its soul.
Do you work with a stylist?
From time to time, I have the pleasure of working with one of my favorite stylists on editorial and commercial photo shoots. Depending on your needs, we will determine whether to add a stylist to the initial estimate.
Can I post the images to social media?
Absolutely! I want your work to get as much attention as possible. Social media usage is included in my standard license.
Do you scout a location ahead of the photoshoot?
I love scouting for locations whenever possible. Knowing more about the project and having the shoot list established before the shoot day always helps the shoot run smoother.
I do not charge for local scouts within 20 miles of downtown Atlanta.
Do you shoot tethered to a computer?
I shoot tethered wirelessly to an iPad during every photoshoot, which makes it easier to adjust the furniture and accessories live on the screen.
I take great pride in my attention to detail, and having a proper way to see the images up close will always benefit both parties.
Do you use artificial light or natural light in your shoots?
Natural light is always my preferred choice when it comes to lighting. However, many photos can be improved with the use of artificial lighting.
I use artificial lighting to fill in dark shadows and bring texture and color cast corrections to important surfaces in the photos. I also use battery-powered strobes during my photoshoots.
Do you shoot videos as well?
Lately, I have been working with more and more designers to capture video. If you would like to schedule a recording session, please contact me directly at tomesp3@tomasespinoza.com to discuss the project in more detail.
